What to Look for When Buying an Electric Scooter

When it comes to choosing an electric scooter, most people focus on power and design, but many other factors matter just as much. Here’s what really makes the difference!

A few years ago, the electric scooter market was dominated by a couple of brands. Nowadays there are countless electric scooter models to choose from. Which such a wide range of available products, it can be hard for customers to know which vehicle best suits their needs. Most people focus on power and design, but many other factors matter just as much. This is where we can provide some useful advice. As one of the first scooter brands to appear on the market, we understand better than anyone how scooters have evolved. We also know what guarantees long term satisfaction when owning a scooter. After all, our products were build and improved based on the constant feedback that we have gotten from our clients. So here’s what you should be looking for.

Battery range

Many people buy the scooters as a last-mile solution. However, if you invest in a scooter with a good battery, you can use it for longer distances as well. Moreover, keep in mind that battery ranges are estimated for specific circumstances. Most of them, ours included, are calculated for a 70 kg load, on a straight road, with a constant speed. A heavier load, a higher speed and an uneven terrain can deliver different battery range results. So don’t skimp when it comes to the battery, and invest in a scooter with a decent range.

Stability and maneuverability

This can be harder to compare. If you can’t test the scooters you will have to rely solely on reviews. When it comes to vehicles as small as portable scooters, they need to be both stable and easy to maneuver. Don’t be fooled into buying a scooter with a wide platform so that both feet fit on the platform one next to another. You will be a lot more stable on the scooter if you keep your direction foot in front of the other foot. So, you need a long, not a wide platform. Also, a low guard means a lower center of gravity, which makes the scooter easier to handle. Our scooters also have handlebars with adjustable height. Having the scooter adjusted to your height allows you to have a proper, more stable posture on the scooter.

Portability

Most people think that a foldable handlebar is enough for a scooter to be portable. However, while a foldable handlebar will reduce the size of the scooter, it doesn’t necessarily make it easy to transport. It is imperative for the scooter for have a center of gravity that you can grab, with the weight evenly distributed as you carry it. Our scooter has just that, and it also comes with special accessories that make it even more portable. Last but not least, the E-TWOW scooter is one of the few scooters on the market with collapsible handles, which makes it even more compact when folded.
